Debendra Manandhar
Debendra Manandhar has been working in the field of Rural and Community Development and Social Transformation for more than 20 years. He is chairman to JAAGARAN (http://www.wiserearth.org/organization/view/a50..../), an NGO in Nepal which serves 200 community self-help groups with participation of 3000 households.
Mr. Manandhar holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Tribhuvan University (http://www.tribhuvan-university.edu.np/), Kathmandu, Nepal and, as a Fulbright scholar (http://www.fulbright.co.uk/about/index.html), earned a Master’s degree in Conflict Transformation from Eastern Mennonite University (http://www.emu.edu/), Virginia, USA, in 2004.
Debendra has been involved with RYS since 1986 and its precursor, the Youth Seminar on World Religions, in 1984. He has attended numerous RYS projects and, more recently, conducted the training as educational director for RYS Guyana in 2004. As designer and developer of “Personal Leadership Development” (PLD), Debendra works diligently to train individuals to bring out their hidden potentials for personal, institutional and social transformation.
