Unity through Actions of Love and Service in Georgia

You are invited to be a part of our upcoming RYS project, where we will bring together people and partners of diverse faiths, ethnicities, nationalities, generations, and cultures to live and work together as a community. RYS Georgia 2011 will be held on July 16-25 at Zugdidi, a city in the Western Georgian historical province of Mingrelia (Samegrelo), the center of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region. Zugdidi is located 318 kilometers west of Tbilisi, 30 kilometers from the Black Sea coast.
Volunteers will be engaged in service in a local orphanage, mentoring young children to build character while beautifying their home. They will plan and plant a Peace Alley and participate in environmental protection activities.
During the project we will provide many opportunities for experiential learning and training in leadership development, which will entail expanding international cooperation, fostering altruism, and facilitating friendship. We will focus on building community through service-related and sightseeing activities, cultural visitations and, generally, through joyful sharing. Participants will become acquainted with the historical heritage of Georgian culture. The project is sure to be an exciting and memorable experience.
In Zugdidi we will offer meaningful service to improve the quality of life for marginalized and unfortunate citizens. In this way, our hope is to plant the seeds to create a community of peace through empowering the personal growth of its residents by utilizing international volunteers who can model a culture of vibrant community service.
We hope you will join us in July!
