RYS Russia - Interfaith Discussion

As a result of the project "Cherish Friendship - Create a Peace Park," a decision was made to organize a project to facilitate greater understanding of the vision of interreligious peace.

At the present time in Russia, religion fills the remainder of the ideological vacuum after the collapse of the Soviet Union. But politicians are using religion for selfish purposes, a situation that has built walls between the denominations, dividing them into traditional and nontraditional. Because of this, there is confusion among faithful people.

The dialogue between them often leads to disputes and conflicts. Therefore, we are planning to carry out a project that will pursue convergence and focus on the acquisition of skills by young people and conflict-free communication among the religious youth.

We are inviting young people from 18-35 years old to participate from December 2-5, 2011 at the Youth Interfaith project.

The program will include:

  • Holding a training workshop on creating opportunities for dialogue, discussion and action in response to current and socially important problems and needs
  • Carrying out specific projects to assist low-income citizens
  • Planning and executing a cultural program

The aim of this project is to promote interethnic and interreligious harmony in Novosibirsk.

The project is designed for 12 people.
