RYS Peace Park Projects

RYS Peace Park Projects use art as the vehicle of service.

The basic makeup of a Peace Park Project is similar to a regular RYS project with the difference being that artistic activity constitutes the service. Participants look to the creative process for lessons in harmony and peace building. These projects also provide an opportunity to look at all of life as a creative process and to study art as a means to express the highest values. The RYS Peace Parks provide a context enabling interreligious youth to put aside doctrinal differences, to unite in activities of spirit, creativity, worship, and service-learning and, in this way, to showcase a model of peaceful community.

An RYS Peace Park is an artistic creation built as a reflection of the harmony of diverse peoples. The Peace Parks emerge as living art works, in which the people, the materials, space and all subsequent relationships created in building and appreciating the park are all part of the artistic event.
