Interreligious Youth Support Girl's Learning Facility
Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, reported in 2002 United Nations Development Programme to be the least-developed province in Indonesia, is just on the other side of Bali Island. It is an agricultural area. However, it is very ironic that the local residents, who work to produce rice, vegetables and other food crops, are unable to buy and consume these same crops. In fact, many children in this community die because of nutritional deficiencies. People there live in abject poverty in the midst of rich resources and a beautiful tourist area.
RYS Indonesia, which recognized many problems in the Lombok area, chose to respond to the needs of the community through improving the local educational facilities. RYS plans to work on the Islamic Girl's School, rendering repairs to the library, computer room, and bathroom. RYS will also donate books ranging from those for children to professionals' books.
